In Beautiful Stranger , finance whiz Sara Dillon met the irresistibly sexy Brit, Max Stella, at a New York City club. Through the series we’ve watched them learn to balance commitment with their less than private brand of playfulness.
In Beautiful Beloved, Max and Sara take it to the next step. But the question is:
Will they be able to find a balance between the wild sexcapades they aren’t ready to retire, and the demands of parenthood that come along with their new Beautiful bundle of joy?
Parenthood: it’s not for the weak of heart.

Before — and during — her pregnancy, it never occurred to me how fragile she was. And then she’d had my baby: nearly nine pounds and over twenty-four hours of hard labor. For two months after Annabel came, we’d stumbled our way through new parenting, fallen in love with our daughter, fallen in love all over again with each other, and found tiny winks of sleep whenever we could. Eventually, we’d also found ways to be carefully intimate with hands and mouths, playful with words and toys.
First and foremost, I've got to make mention of the fact that I'm so pleased to see the price drop for this release. At only $0.99 it's a steal! (Well if you consider the prices of the prequels - that is). I'm not sure about anyone else, but I know I made mention of it in my review of Beautiful Player - so I'm very happy to see the price adjustment with this release. It's again a semi-novella. Longer probably than most novella's, but not by much. If you think that 99c is still a bit much for novella's - I'll remind you that their last mini-novel was (and still is) $4.99. So consider this one a steal!
Secondly I want to tell all of you that I'm utterly confused at the number sequence of this series. I don't get how the order has been planed. Maybe now that I've gotten my first complaint fixed, this one will be sorted next. #holdingthumbs!
Let me elaborate...
Book #1 is Beautiful Bastard, Book #2 is Beautiful Stranger & Book #3 is Beautiful Player. Now while these 3 releases are full length novels that each have different character plots... the accompanying novellas for Beautiful Bastard - the first book - are labeled: 1.5, 2.5 & 3.5. From my point of view, they should be 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3. This book (Beautiful Beloved) should be and is the accompanying novella for Book #2 - Beautiful Stranger so it should be labeled - 2.1 / or something with a 2 in front of it. So we can see it's a add-on to that read. The way it's been done is so confusing. It's hard to remember, makes you unsure of which characters this is based on and all in all... hard for someone who just glances at it. I've been with this series for a while and I still don't know what's which and when to read or what. I'm just lucky I guess because I've been reading as they release. But for someone who hasn't... I can see how it would totally be mind-boggling. It especially makes it hard if you wanted to read the main novels as stand alone's. (which you kind of can if you wish). But the novella's... you obviously can't. Maybe I'm just really blonde and don't grasp it... but when I put together this post, I had to look back each time I made mention of one of the books in the series.
Anyway, I've eventually gotten the order, but it's not easy. (and don't ask me to verbally recite it to you)
I'm furthermore entirely over this series. It's been going on way to long. Originally I thought since there were 3 guy friends, there'd be 3 books - one for each... but alas... another character has been introduced (Max's brother) and yes, there's another book waiting in the wings for it's release date - Beautiful Secret releases April 14th, 2015. But I'm so ready to end this chapter of my life. I fear that since Max and Sarah has a baby... that a 5th installment will be released with her as a main character. It's entirely possible. It never ends.
But complaints aside... let's get to the actual review of this book... Beautiful Beloved. The 3.6th book in the Beautiful Bastard Series....
While reading this, I was a little lost. I found that I couldn't remember elements that get mentioned. I'm sure it was in Beautiful Stranger... but I just can't remember if that's the case. I was surprised to discover that the baby had already been born as was 4 months old by the time this book starts. I thought it was about the pregnancy and then birth. But that's not the case. I also thought that their challenges would have been a little more 'every day' - when you have a kid and all. But no. It was entirely based around the fact that they didn't have or at least couldn't manage (at first) to have the exploratory sex life they had before. Now I love a good steamy read. But honestly, if your only problems are that you can't have scream loudly - because you have a baby) or have people watch you while you sex it up because you can't get someone proper to look after the kid... then you actually have bigger issues than you think.
That's what this whole book is about. The change in their sex-life because they had a baby. How they can't be wild ect. That's all. Not much right? One dimensional maybe? Yip. That's how I saw it.
Other than that it's entertaining. This is not a surprise. Christina Lauren are good at what they do. I just really wish that this series would have an end in sight and maybe the start of something new. A new venture. The entire premise of this series is getting stale and while I enjoy the reading aspect that their writing has to offer... it doesn't give me the feel of discovering something new at all. Same shit, different book sort of thing.
