What he didn't expect was for the girl across the street to move back home and remind him of what they both lost: Dewayne's younger brother Dustin. However, when a miniature version of Dustin opens the door to greet him, Dewayne realizes he might not have lost everything after all.
Sienna Roy loved Dustin Falco most of her life. He was the boy next door, the high school basketball star and her best friend. But when his life was cut short, she realized he left a part of himself behind.
Now, she's back in Sea Breeze, thankful to have a home for her and Dustin's son, but not sure if she can ever forgive the people across the street who abandoned her when she needed them the most — The Falcos.
Betrayal, lies, and forbidden attraction might end Dewayne and Sienna's story before it's even begun.

“You’re one of the best men I know. You wear your tats and piercings and those damn leather bracelets that only you could get away with. But inside you are one big teddy bear. When someone you love needs you, there is nothing you won’t do for them. When I needed you, you were always there. I’ve never questioned your heart. It’s made of fucking gold, and we all know it. We laugh at your crude jokes and snide comments because we know they mean nothing. It’s part of your shield. Underneath, I don’t know many men that compare. You’re one of the best, Dewayne. One of the best.”
Hold on Tight felt lighter (maybe even more fluffier) than the usual Abbi Glines reads. However, I still had a good time reading it.
I'll admit it took me a few pages to really get into it. It took a long time for Sienna and Dewayne to hook up officially. Which, again... was a little off from the usual Abbi books. I'll tell you what actually sold this book for me... Micah. Totally cute! And I'm not one for little people in hot Romance books. Normally they cramp the romance a bit when they are ever-present... But Micah was well placed into this novel and didn't create any uncomfortable scenes for Sienna and Dewayne.
Sienna used to date Dewayne's brother Dustin. Until he died tragically in a car accident and she was left alone and scared since she it was just then that she discovers she's pregnant with his baby. Dewayne always had this intense need to protect Sienna. But he had always convinced himself he was doing so for his brother.
It's only 6 years later - and Sienna back in his life that he realizes that she's always been the reason he felt possessive towards her... not just because she was dating his brother and he was looking out for them as a couple - but rather that he was always in love with her.
The issue I had with this book? ~ A few things...
One was the fact that the 'flashbacks' to 6 years before (which were somewhat not a bad add-on, sometimes) took away from the current storyline. I didn't like the break in the overall progress of the novel. I felt the as if the parts of the book that were set in present day didn't move along fast enough nor (I discovered at the end) was there enough present day story to make me feel content with the overall book. The last bit - which was in fact the best part of the entire book - was insanely rushed. Just as the book became really intense and exciting, it ended.
A serious let-down.
Secondly, this book wasn't as sexy as the usual Abbi Glines books. This was strange since in previous books Dewayne has always come across as hot and intensely masculine - which comes across briefly in this book - but not enough to do his character justice. His just not as alpha male as I expected him to be.
As a whole this book was enjoyable. If it were a new author and this was one my of first reads from her writing, I'd even say it was a great book. But it wasn't on-par with Abbi Glines and that's kind of disappointing.
I'm not sure if it's because this series is becoming drawn-out, if Abbi has hit a brick wall with these characters or if there just isn't anything new and exciting to add to the happenings in Sea Breeze worth getting giddy about...
