Fantasy. How I ended up with NFL player Drew Callahan, the guy every woman wants, is beyond my wildest dreams. All I know is that once he chose me as his one and only, I sure wasn’t looking back. I had past wounds and he showed patience and concern—even taking responsibility for my messed-up kid brother. Now, once again, he’s found a way to blow my mind: an exotic wedding and honeymoon miles and miles away from home. What else could a girl ever ask for?
Reality. Now the honeymoon’s over. Drew’s football schedule takes him on the road constantly, while I need to stay put and look after my brother until he finishes high school—because God knows our sorry excuse for a mother won’t. I know Drew loves me with all his heart, and I’ll always be over the moon about him. This just isn’t how I imagined our life as newlyweds . . . dealing with the distance, missing him all the time. But we’ve gone through hard times before. We can get through this, too, right? We’re Drew and Fable, together forever. At least I hope so. . . .

I was kind of worried going into this book. I didn't want the version I had of Drew & Fable to in any way be hindered. I didn't want this tale to be over done or become stale. I was afraid of that... since it often happens with series by the time the third book comes along. I didn't know what to expect. I guess the 'forever' part of the title should have put my mind to rest but honestly... really honestly... I didn't want Monica Murphy to mess it up for me... lol. So I pondered as to if and when I should read this... and since it was released on January 14th already, I decided it was now or never. So I went for it and you know what? Monica Murphy was able to make it even better... I didn't think it was at all possible, but somehow she weaved her magic and gave us a light, heart-warming, heart-fluttering... perfect romance. It's everything Drew & Fable plus... a little bitty more :)
This book is marketed as a novella and yes, it's not a full length novel at all. Not even close - but it's not very novella-ish... it's longer but still perfect for those of you who have 2 hours to spare.
But just know this... as much as I loved it and I absolutely did... I did get a little bored with all the declaration of love... consistently. D&F Forever moves between both Drew and Fable's POV and really there is a whole lot of inner thoughts and not very many dialogues between characters. I'll admit that the continuous fluffy love thoughts and actions shared between D & F does get a little repetitive and not to mention... dreary... but enough 'other stuff' takes place for you not to frustrated about it.
This book takes place about a year after D & F get engaged and continues to span until about two years later. Most chapters are the start of a new development and does skip over days and weeks... but not once did I feel as if something was left out or rushed. The fact that this is considered a novella...but is in fact 130 pages long tells you that it's not a wham, bam and done tale.
I thought it was the perfect conclusion to a tale I already adored. It didn't linger on unnecessary issues or areas. I'll admit that this book was written kind of in a way that had you not read book #1 or book #2 - you would still sort of know what happened since there are brief explanations... It's not the kind of thing that I particularly like in books - especially when it's a given that most readers have read the prequel - so I'm not one for having to read through explanations when I'm very well aware of what happened... but the way in which it's done here is far more subtle and less in-depth. A nice touch or at least a better way to go around including info the readers should already know but may have forgotten.
Overall I enjoyed this book enough to give it a full 5 star rating. And as much as I really do love D & F as a couple I'm kind of content with the way in which everything has played out. I don't think that there is much left for them to continue to write about without the story getting stale... so I'm pleased with the outcome.
A really great novella to a tale I often still smile about when I happen to see them on Amazon or Goodreads :) Again... two thumbs up for Monica Murphy!
