Ana Belle never wanted anything more than to hang up her apron, jump on her Vespa and ride off into the sunset, leaving Sugartown in the dust.

Elijah Cade never wanted anything more than a hot meal, a side of hot arse and a soft place to lay his head at night where he could forget about his past.

But you know what they say about wanting: you always want what you can’t have.

Nineteen year-old virgin Ana is about to discover that’s not quite true because a six foot three, hotter than hell, tattooed, Aussie sex god just rode into town. He’s had a taste of her pie and he wants more– no really, Ana bakes pies for a living, get your mind out of the gutter.

She’d be willing to hand over everything tied up in a big red bow, there’s just one problem; Elijah has secrets dirtier than last week’s underwear. Secrets that won't just break Ana’s heart, but put her life at risk, too. When those secrets come to light, their relationship is pushed to breaking point.

Add to that a psychotic nympho best friend, an overbearing father, a cuter than humanly possible kid brother, a wanton womanizing cousin, the ex from hell, and more pies than you could poke a ... err ... stick ... at.

And you thought small towns were boring.

Welcome to Sugartown.

*Content Warning. Intended for a mature 18+ audience. Contains explicit sex, oodles of profanity and a crap-tonne of AWKWARD.

A little bit crazy... a whole lot of naughty...somewhat darkish...but still... it was a bit to fluffy... and that's the reason for my 4 stars.

If it wasn't for the language used in this book - I would have thought I was reading a mature young adult. Yes, there are a few naughty situations... but as a whole I don't consider it very erotic... it does borderline on steamy, but all it ended up doing was make my mind foggy and my nerves irritated. I can't even tell you how many times I sighed at stubbornness or the almost...almost... almost there's that pull back just when you thought it was moving forward.

I don't know... I'm mildly disappointed and a little frustrated. This book held so many contradictions and annoying situations that at times I was struggling to hold on. But sure... it's a good read. Just not as good as some are saying it is. Sorry.

What I did like was the writing style that Carmen Jenner uses. It's easy to read and the writing and I just clicked.

What I didn't like was the frustration that I had at the situations throughout the book. There were just to many 'almost there' moments that would be retracted just before you think something naughty is finally going to happen.

What I really, really didn't like was the fact that Ana's virginity is something I thought was kind of special in this book... but then Carmen Jenner f-ed it up by incorporating a situation that turned it dirty. I honestly hated that and it's another reason for my drop in rating for this book. I don't know why it had to go as far as it did. It could have ended before the deed was done and it would have resulted in me still thinking of Ana's specialness. The way in which this part of the book is done is just not... I don't know... necessary.

It only added to my irritations and overall frustrations. The one moment we wait for during the entire time we read this book doesn't happen as it should have and then... to top it all off... when Ana and Elijah eventually do the deed... it's right at the very very end of the book. So all the while you were reading kind of fluffy stuff.

I somewhat liked the characters but I got the impression that the author didn't know her characters well enough to let them continue to be the same throughout. I felt as if Carmen Jenner wanted to add a little darkness into this book... which is a good thing, don't get me wrong... but in the way it was done - was a major flop in my opinion. It was just wrong and I can't get over that.

Overall it wasn't a terrible read. I did enjoy it. I found myself eager to get back to reading each time I needed to step away. However, the pull was the fact that I was waiting for it all to reach the high point... and because it only happened at the very end of this book... I kind of feel as if I wasted my time. I feel cheated into reading a book that didn't deliver until the very last minute.

I expected sweet, spicy and fun... but all I got was long drawn out scenes that never amounted to very much and didn't contribute very much towards my romance fetish.
