Drew Evans is a winner. Handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. He has loyal friends and an indulgent family. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed?

He’ll tell you he has the flu.

But we all know that’s not really true.

Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. She refuses to let anything - or anyone - derail her path to success. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.

Then, just when Drew is on the cusp of having everything he wants, his overblown confidence threatens to ruin it all. Will he be able untangle his feelings of lust and tenderness, frustration and fulfillment? Will he rise to the most important challenge of his life?

Can Drew Evans win at love?

Tangled is not your mother’s romance novel. It is an outrageous, passionate, witty narrative about a man who knows a lot about women…just not as much as he thinks he knows. As he tells his story, Drew learns the one thing he never wanted in life, is the only thing he can’t live without.

I really feel conflicted about this book. On the one hand, I really enjoyed myself while I read this... on the other, I wasn't a huge fan of the writing style.

Why do I say that? Well, it's so different to the usual... which may not be a bad thing... but I found it so distracting. Okay, let me explain this a little better:

So Drew is telling us 'first hand' about his story... okay, and it's a good story. But Nothing special really, the usual playboy meets nice girl and since meeting her he finds himself changing his playboy ways.

Only about 15% - 20% of the book is about the development of the plot. The rest? Ramblings, flashbacks, explanations and such... it's so different that I can't really decide if it's good different or bad different.

Look... I'm not saying it's not a good book, because essentially it's a really great read. It's funny, light and just all-round entertaining. But all those add-on's really just distract you from the matter at hand. One minute you are reading about Drew's relationship and the development of their tale, the next you are told - 'hold-up'- let's backtrack... or something similar.

All this really does is break your reading mojo. It definitely broke mine. I was into it and then I was reading something which seemed almost out of context and then after a few pages you are back to the story, then you get back into it and suddenly it stops again... and so it continues.

Anyway, so Drew's a player and he's proud to be. He's good at his job, the best according to him... he's confident, sexy, cocky and exudes all the usual playboy traits. One night he meets Kate and although his attraction to her at first is all playboy-like, it soon develops into something more and it's bye-bye bad boy, hello Kate fixation.

So... really you'll have to read this to make sure if it's for you. I can't tell you yes or no. Because I don't even know if it's a yes or no read. Just go into it knowing that it's written in a context that's pretty distracting... but it's still fun to read. There are no exciting moments though. I never once felt drawn into this book. It merely felt like a book I just enjoyed, but didn't love.

It's just easy and therefore if you are looking for a lighthearted book with some humor, then I'd say Tangled is for you. If you are looking for heartfelt deep-rooted romance... then no, this is not it.
