Wonderlust (Steel Roses #1) by B.L. Wilde

Natasha White has always been unlucky in love. The men she falls for only want one thing from her, and it isn’t commitment. When her boss and on/off fling announces his engagement to another woman, she finds herself running from her feelings for him by taking a job as a personal assistant to the legendary rock god, Alex Harbour—half a world away.

Her new boss is sexy, damaged, and insatiable, but Natasha has been a fan since she was a young girl. Conflicted by her emotions, she begins a love/hate relationship with the egotistical rock star.

Alex’s intentions toward her are clear from the moment they meet, but Natasha isn’t about to run from one emotionless connection to another. She is determined to keep her distance from her childhood crush, by any means necessary.

When lust begins to cloud her mind, however, she becomes hell bent on protecting her heart. What good could ever come out of falling for a rock star, anyway?

Wonderlust by B.L. Wilde

When I decided to give Wonderlust a go, I had absolutely no expectations. I thought that at the very least this would be an easy read. Something to bypass the time. I was in the mood for a rockstar romance and Wonderlust was the go-to read. I have never before read anything from B.L. Wilde. Not a single book of hers. I had no prior experience as to how she tells a tale or even the manner in which she writes.

Honestly, I actually didn't want to read this book. It felt more personal to me than any other book has ever been and I didn't want to break the seal. I've been in contact and/or working with B,L. Wilde for years now. She's a darling, wonderful person. Yet I've never been in a situation where I've actually read any of her work. I really didn't want to read this and not love it. But I knew deep down... I just had to read it. It needed to be read. So... I had a hard time (after procrastinating for some while) actually opening it up on my kindle and get a start on it. After the first two chapters I took stock... "Okay, so far... so good. No actually So far so FREAKING good" I said to myself. I was blindsided at how amazing this book was starting to take shape. But I was still worried. I'd never want to shoot this book down in any way, but I know myself well enough to know that if I didn't love it, I'm not going to say I did. It's just my thing. I don't swing that way at all. So it was tough. The pressure was hectic.

By the end of the 4th chapter - I was a fan. I was hooked so deep I felt as if WONDERLUST was in my blood. I was calling all my people and telling them that it's so "freaking amazing... I'm so proud of this book" ... and that was only after chapter 4. By midway through this novel, I was ready to sign my name in blood. This woman right here... was officially an Alex Groupie and Natasha's BFF.

To say I loved the female character is putting it mildly. I A-Freaking-Dored-Her! She was real. She was us. She is me and she is you. She has insecurities, obstacles. decisions she just can't seem to make... she's a living character. A real one. I love her humor. I loved her attitude. I'm in love with Natasha! lol

Alex on the other hand... he took a while to get me in his fold. I watched him from the sidelines for a while. hmmmmm'ed and hhaaaaa'ed.... then suddenly, I fell in love. And Deeply so.

The two of them together? My year was done! Perfect and done.

Both Alex and Natasha are very strong characters. They've been moulded into perfect life-like fictional characters. I've not experience something like this in months... if not years. Sometimes I adore one of the characters, but the other grates on my nerves... there is seldom a time I simply love the two without finding any fault.

The blurb to Wonderlust sums up the way it's going to go within this book so I don't feel I need to clarify it any further. I don't want to accidentally mention something that may spoil it all for you. The best way to read this novel is to go into it blindly... not knowing what to expect. That way you can fully experience Wonderlust without any expectations.

Without even realizing it until I got to the end and had a moment to reflect.... Wonderlust became my favorite Adult Romance Read for 2015. I've read it twice since the first time... so yes, I've already read it three times now. I'll probably read it again next week. The characters haunt my mind and I keep coming back to certain parts in the book and reread it.

What it was about this book is that it was unique. The Genre and Theme may not be, but the character interactions and even their backstories, insecurities, moods and thoughts... this book isn't written in a way that you have to sit back and wonder what the heck just happened? It's an easy read with a whole lot of heat. A huge amount of sexy-ness and overall it's simply an awesome read. I'm devastated that I have to wait for the second book.... I emailed B.L. Wilde and told her I simply need the second like right this very second. Her response.... She can't wait to get into writing it... AHHHHH.... so it's going to be a bit of a wait
:( Which I'm miffed about but all good things are worth the wait.

Wonderlust is a brilliantly written love story, full of wonder and lust. It's definitely my book of the year so far and I'm so crazy happy I took the plunge and read it. :)

Claire and I took the lift to the top floor of the hotel. I’d never been in the penthouse suites of the Dorchester in London before. I was hoping I could take a look around at some point.
“So the second round of interviews is in the penthouse?” I mused, following her as the elevator doors pinged open.
“It’s for security purposes. The press will be arriving later today, so we’ll need the space. It gets a little crazy.” I quickly followed her as she opened the grand, double doors in front of us. “You can wait here. Help yourself to anything you’d like.” She gestured toward the corner of the room where tea, coffee, and delicate pastries were on display. With a quick glance at me, she left me alone in the room. It intrigued me that I was the first woman to make it to the second interview. From talking to Gina, I’d gathered this PA job was for a man. Now my mind was racing, wondering who it could be. I walked over to the corner of the room to pour myself a cup of coffee while I pondered that thought. Maybe it was a new and upcoming artist. It would be exciting to witness everything first hand.
I heard a door open and close behind me a few moments later. Did another woman make it through to the second stage already? I hadn’t even been upstairs for ten minutes.
I turned, almost dropping my coffee at the sight of the person in front of me. Alex Harbour was across the room, frowning at me. The teenager inside me took charge, and I stood there drinking him in. Christ, the man was sexy! He was a walking orgasm. Clearly, it wasn’t photoshop that made him look good, either. He was seriously just that hot! His jeans hung low off his hips, and I tried to stop my eyes from lingering on his huge bulge. I’m not sure I completely succeeded, though. His legendary white V neck T-shirt clung to his well defined torso, and revealed part of the crucifix tattoo on his upper chest. Most of the skin on his arms was covered, but I knew every detail about his tattoos, anyway. They were forever embedded in my memory. His light brown hair was much shorter but still unruly, and as he drew closer toward me, his piercing, clear blue eyes began to make my heart race.
Shit! Was this job to be his PA? I couldn’t do that! I was on the verge of an orgasm just looking at him! “How did you get in here?” he finally asked, tilting his head while giving me a panty ruining smirk.
“I…I…” Jesus, why couldn’t I speak? My mind was in a haze, thinking back to my earlier years when this man and his voice meant everything to me.
“You shouldn’t really be in here, Gorgeous. We’ll need to make this quick,” he tutted. I frowned, trying to snap out of the ridiculous daze I was in. I didn’t even register what he meant until he began to undo the belt on his jeans. “Start stripping. I don’t have time to take your clothes off, too. We only have a few minutes at the most.” What? Was he for real? “Gorgeous, clothes…now. I literally have five minutes before Gina arrives. If you want a piece if this, you’ll need to move fast.”
“Excuse me?” I spat, finally coming out of my daydream. Alex’s eyes widened at my outburst. It didn’t matter that he was sexy as hell. This man was clearly a complete asshole. “You think I’m going to have sex with you?”
“Isn’t that what you groupies sneak up here for? Who let you in? Was it Steve? He knows my type well. You’re really cute.” A groupie! Anger raced through my veins. Oh, this dickhead was going down.

Cover Reveal For The Song of David by Amy Harmon (+ A Giveaway!)

She said I was like a song. Her favorite song. A song isn’t something you can see. It’s something you feel, something you move to, something that disappears after the last note is played.

I won my first fight when I was eleven years old, and I’ve been throwing punches ever since. Fighting is the purest, truest, most elemental thing there is. Some people describe heaven as a sea of unending white. Where choirs sing and loved ones await. But for me, heaven was something else. It sounded like the bell at the beginning of a round, it tasted like adrenaline, it burned like sweat in my eyes and fire in my belly. It looked like the blur of screaming crowds and an opponent who wanted my blood.

For me, heaven was the octagon.

Until I met Millie, and heaven became something different. I became something different. I knew I loved her when I watched her stand perfectly still in the middle of a crowded room, people swarming, buzzing, slipping around her, her straight dancer’s posture unyielding, her chin high, her hands loose at her sides. No one seemed to see her at all, except for the few who squeezed past her, tossing exasperated looks at her unsmiling face. When they realized she wasn’t normal, they hurried away. Why was it that no one saw her, yet she was the first thing I saw?

If heaven was the octagon, then she was my angel at the center of it all, the girl with the power to take me down and lift me up again. The girl I wanted to fight for, the girl I wanted to claim. The girl who taught me that sometimes the biggest heroes go unsung and the most important battles are the ones we don’t think we can win.

When I’m in the mood for a paranormal romance, I’ve just gotta have one. Nothing else will do. I get this urge for a sexy, alpha, fantasy man and no other book (no matter how awesome, no matter the buzz, no matter the ratings) will get me to change my mind. So it’s gotta be paranormal when I crave it. So I’ve learned to just give in and get myself one.

So I was kind of interested, somewhat unsure… but definitely determined to read Mate Bound. I was interested, mostly because of the genre. A paranormal romance with a sexy shifter… just what my heart needed. I was unsure because I’ve never ever read a book written by Jennifer Ashley before in my life…. and since this was the 7th installment of the Shifters Unbound series, I was worried I’d be lost because I didn’t read the prequels.

But my worries were soon over. Early into this read I figured out that it didn’t matter that I’d not read previous books in this series. Yes, there were a few characters who may or may not have been present in other books - I really have no idea - but it didn’t matter. Which was both a relief and a pleasant surprise. I was able to go into this book as a total noob and what I’ve walked away with if a feeling of time well spent, a huge smile on my face and an even bigger craving for more paranormal romance - but mostly…. more from Jennifer Ashley.

Mate Bond is about a shifter couple who are already mated. This is a new approach for me. I don’t believe I’ve ever read a about mates that starts when they already are a item. In fact, I can’t remember if I’ve ever read a book about any couple who are already together when the book starts… it was definitely a new kind of experience. One I wasn’t sure I was going to get into properly. But my worries were ridiculous. The fact that Kenzie and Bowman (the mates) have been together for 15 years, have a 12 year old cub and for the most part are like an old married couple…. didn’t take away from the sexiness of the read. In fact, this may be the reason I feel their connection even more. I was instantly a team Kenzie and Bowman.

The problem the two face is something unique as well. Even though they are mated, they have yet to experience the true mate bond. The fact that this hasn’t happened within the 15 years of them being together does bother them. They fear that the other will find their true mate and move on. Which by their shifter law is allowed. Their true issues? Is that neither of the two know what the other feels and thinks so they feel as if the love for each other is one sided.

Right from the start of this book - we get introduced to ‘the problem’ that will carry out the main plot right until the end. Which again, was great. Other than the journey of discovering their love for one another and of course ‘the problem’ I mentioned, there’s little diversion. Which again, makes for a great read. You really don’t need to focus on to many aspects, only the progress of the book and I loved, loved that about Mate Bonds. It made for a seriously exciting and gripping read.

Even though this book is written in 3rd person (and those that read my reviews will know, I’m not a big 3rd person POV fan) - I completely forget all about that and just had fun. I loved the mild humor that sometimes made it’s way in Kenzie was a real sassy lady… but not overly so, which again, is great. It didn’t feel as if the author forced us to believe any of the characters personality. They just are who they are and you get to feel and understand that easily and effectively.

This book is a perfect balance of sexy and serious. Half of the time I was grinning or fanning myself… the other half I was sitting up straight, biting my nails. I’m genuinely excited to read the rest of the books in this series. I haven’t been this interested in a 7 book series in a long, long time.

If you are looking for a paranormal romance, hot shifter alpha’s, a fun and fiery leading lady… and a romance that doesn’t leave you whiplashed, this one’s definitely for you.

Shifters Unbound Series by Jennifer Ashley

Need (Need #1) by K.I. Lynn & N. Isabelle Blanco

Sometimes love happens at first sight, even when you’re at an age where you can’t comprehend what it means.

It was just a crush. They were only kids, after all. But what happens when that feeling never goes away?

Brayden and Kira have been neighbors for years, and best friends since they met. They have a connection that is evident to many, and it’s haunted them their whole lives.

Teenage hormones rage, turning their friendship into something neither can handle. The attraction is carnal, all-consuming, and it seems like it’s only a matter of time before Brayden loses control.

Everything slams to a halt when their single parents decide to get remarried . . . to each other. Bad decisions and broken friendships make living across the hall from the one person you want above all difficult. Luckily for Brayden, it’s only for a few months before he’s off to college in another state, leaving Kira to face high school alone.

Brayden tries to stay away, to forget her, but it’s an impossible task he fails at time and time again. Kira is morphing from a sexy teenager to an irresistible woman, one that knows what she wants and seems hell-bent on getting it.

As Kira’s eighteenth birthday approaches, Brayden has a decision to make. Does he keep running away from the thing he wants the most or does he run toward it?

Is it possible to ever be happy without the one person you need?

I miss her. Miss her so fucking much my heart hurts, but I have to stay away. Shouldn't that have stopped by now? Shouldn’t that all-consuming ache be less, not more?

There is a whole, whole lot I have to say about this book. All of it relevant to the overall reading experience. However, the most important point I can make is that Need turned out to be one of those books you simply can’t stop reading. No matter how frustrating both Kira and Brayden became as the plot progressed… my wanting to read this book, turned into needing to read this book. Fitting don’t you think?

Before I begin to express my thoughts on what I both loved and (maybe) hated about this book - I’ll give you a little run-down on what it’s all about.

Kira and Brayden have known each other for years. Since they were kids. They featured in each other’s lives through some of the biggest, happiest, craziest and saddest moments. They’ve always been drawn to each other in some way or another. When Kira is 15 and Brayden is almost 18 - they yet again share an experience that is both the most life altering and shocking. But this time around it happens to the both of them. From that moment on they can no longer be as ‘close’ as they had hoped. From then on out (for the next 3 years), their relationship and friendship is pulled through the ringer, torn to shreds, slowly stitched back together only to be shattered once more. There’s a lot of anger, tears, frustration and even hatred passed back and forth.

I have two sides pulling at me… I have the “reader in me” side - which is so in love with this book and pretty much wants to reread it very soon - And then i have the “reviewer in me” side that knows that even though I adored this read, there are a few details I should make mention of so that when you (the next reader of this book) goes into it… you'll know what to expect.

It’s important to remember that this is not a standalone read. This book is broken into two parts - with Need being the first installment. So don’t go into it believing that all will turn out okay in the end… because within this book (Need, Part 1)… there is no happily ever after for Kira and Brayden. - So that’s the first aspect you need to make note of before diving head-first into this. If you don’t know that this series is two part, you will be horribly upset when you reach the end of part 1.

Secondly, you may or may not care to know that even though Kira and Brayden are intensely attracted to one another - at the start Kira is only 15 and as the years go by - right until the end of this part - she’s basically still a minor. So even though as you read this book, you are slowly drawn into their connection… there are many parts within this book that may (or may not, depending on your stance regarding this) upset readers who aren’t willing to read about sexual interactions / fantasies between a 15 year old and an 18 year old. To me it bordered on too much, too young - but I simply tuned that all out. There are also many moments where I felt Kira was far to young to be behaving the way she does… I questioned the presence of her mother often. I wondered why Kira was allowed to behave and dress the way she does and her mother has no opinion. Often I found Kira’s language a little to adult and crude for both her age and because she's a female character. I felt that her ‘experiences’ were far more adult rather than that of a young adult, which is what she’s suppose to be. This may however, be the reason for the fact that in my head, they were both much older. It reads like a New Adult Romance but with Young Adult characters. This is something you must tune out when you go into this book. If you have issues with underage drinking, sexual situation and explicit language, then listen to me know… forget they are teenagers. Rather just breeze past that fact and ignore.

If you do this, then you will be blown away. This book is both electric and addictive. The main characters will be two of the best you will ever read. Both Kira and Brayden are so well developed, their history well plotted. I’m still struggling to move on from them.

I have previous experience with this writing duo. I’ve read works from both sides and have enjoyed what I’ve read. But let me just say (and I don’t mean any disrespect to either author when I say this) together… they are just so powerful. A Brilliant combination. I couldn’t tell where K.I. Lynn ended and N. Isabelle Blanco started. I have absolutely no idea how a writing duo works… how the dynamics come to work together… but I’m pretty sure it’s not always a smooth transition. However, in this book - NEED PART 1 - it was flawless. Blended well and each typical writing style complimented the other.

I’m so super impressed with this book. It’s not often I try out something new and find myself besotted. This is by far the edgiest book I’ve read all year - I adore it so much…. I don’t even want to get going on the little snippet I got at the end (which was actually a preview for Need part 2) - that, that…. is going to drive me insane, I already know that much from the little bit of insight I received.

As a whole this book is a 5 star read for me. Even with all my frustrations and pains I had towards both Kira and Braydon… I’m a fan. A huge fan girl. If this duo continues to produce more of these kinds of reads, just take down my name because I’ll read anything they put down in front of me.

So do you Want to know how Need came to be? How did K.I. Lynn and N. Isabelle Blanco become a writing duo?
Well here’s how…

Well, it started a long time ago (early 2012), in a Twilight galaxy far far away, when two kinky girls decided to write a piece for a contest. The piece was only eleven thousand words, the maximum for the contest, and titled Need. It was the tale of forbidden lust and romance between step-siblings.

We knew back then Need was much more than an eleven thousand word story, so at the end of 2013 we decided to take the idea of that short story and write a book the way it begged to be told.

As we wrote this new tale, the story of Brayden and Kira grew and grew, forcing our original projected word count further and further out. When we reached the halfway point we realized there was no way to fit the whole story into one book, so the hard decision to create a two part series was made.

We don’t want people to wait long for part two. Take (Need part 2) has an estimated release of summer 2015.
